This position offers an opportunity for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to provide essential services to K-12 students within a school setting. The role involves direct interaction with 5-8 students, delivering specialized support an average of 2-4 hours per week throughout the full semester contract.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing direct orientation and mobility services to students with visual impairments or related needs.
- Collaborating with educators and families to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Writing and contributing to evaluation team reports (ETRs) as necessary.
- Offering consultation to school staff to support student mobility and independence.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Certification or relevant credentials as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist.
- Experience working with school-aged children in a K-12 environment.
- Strong knowledge of IEP and ETR development processes.
- Ability to manage and prioritize time effectively for direct service delivery and paperwork completion.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Location: Lancaster, Ohio
