A K-12 educational setting in Madison Heights, VA, is seeking a licensed Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) for the 2025-2026 school year. This contract position offers a part-time schedule providing focused services to a small caseload of students with visual impairments.
Start Date: August 13, 2025
End Date: May 30, 2026
Hours: Approximately 8 hours per month
Caseload: 4 students total – 1 high school, 1 middle school, and 2 elementary students
- 2 students require weekly orientation and mobility services
- 2 students require bi-weekly services
Qualifications:
- Valid Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification in the state of Virginia
- Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments
- Ability to develop and implement individualized orientation and mobility plans
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct orientation and mobility instruction tailored to each student's needs
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to monitor progress and adjust strategies
- Document student progress and maintain required service records
- Support student independence and safety across educational environments
