This position seeks an experienced Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to provide part-time support for a K-12 school district in Mechanicsville, VA. The role focuses on assisting the district's OMS with managing and reducing caseload backlogs for the remainder of the current school year under a contract arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct orientation and mobility services to students within the K-12 school environment.
- Collaborate with the district’s OMS to develop and implement individualized plans that enhance student mobility and independence.
- Assist in evaluating and updating students’ mobility goals and strategies to ensure progress.
- Support documentation and reporting related to student assessments and service delivery.
- Maintain compliance with relevant state and federal guidelines for special education.
Qualifications:
- Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) credential required.
- Demonstrated experience working with K-12 students in school-based settings.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team, supporting existing caseload management.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Understanding of applicable legislation and best practices in orientation and mobility services.
Location: Mechanicsville, Virginia (Richmond area)
Duration: Part-time contract position for the remainder of the school year
