A K-12 school in Newark, OH is seeking a skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to provide essential services for students with visual impairments. This contract position spans a full semester, beginning as soon as possible and continuing through the end of May.
The primary focus of this role is to deliver direct services to 5-8 students, averaging 2-4 hours per week. Responsibilities include conducting thorough orientation and mobility instruction, consulting with educators and families, and contributing to the development and documentation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Evaluation Team Reports (ETRs) when applicable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized orientation and mobility instruction tailored to individual student needs.
- Consult with school staff and families to support student success and safety.
- Assist in the assessment and evaluation process by writing IEPs and ETRs as required.
- Maintain accurate records of services and student progress.
- Collaborate with the educational team to promote accessibility and independence.

- Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS).
- Experience working with K-12 students, particularly those with visual impairments.
- Ability to manage and prioritize caseload effectively.
