An opportunity is available for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist to support K-12 students during the 25/26 school year in Oakland, CA. This in-person, contract position offers approximately 20+ hours per week in a dynamic school setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and provide specialized orientation and mobility training to students with visual impairments
- Develop individualized mobility plans to enhance student independence and safety
- Collaborate with educators, families, and related service providers to support student needs
- Conduct systematic evaluations and update progress reports regularly
- Ensure compliance with educational standards and best practices
Qualifications:
- Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) preferred
- Experience working in K-12 educational environments
- Strong knowledge of mobility techniques and adaptive equipment
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in person consistently throughout the school year
