This position offers an excellent opportunity for a part-time Orientation and Mobility Specialist to support high school students in Providence, RI. The role is contract-based for the school year and focuses on providing essential services to ensure that students have equal access to their educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct specialized orientation and mobility assessments and training for high school students with visual impairments.
- Develop and implement individualized plans to promote independent travel skills.
- Collaborate closely with educators, support staff, and families to integrate mobility goals within the academic setting.
- Maintain detailed documentation and reporting to track student progress and service delivery.
Qualifications:
- Valid Orientation and Mobility Certification (O&M Certification) is required.
- Experience working with visually impaired students in a school or similar environment preferred.
- Strong commitment to ensuring equal access and independence for students.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
