O&M Specialist - Rustburg, Virginia

Support students’ independence and mobility as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) serving K-12 learners across multiple grade levels. This contract role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact over the course of the 2025-2026 school year, working directly with a focused caseload in the Rustburg, VA area.

Position Details:

• Start Date: August 13, 2025
• End Date: May 30, 2026
• Hours: Approximately 8 hours per month
• Caseload: 4 students total spanning elementary, middle, and high school levels
• Service Frequency: 2 students requiring weekly sessions and 2 students on a biweekly schedule

Qualifications:

• Current Orientation and Mobility Specialist certification/license in the state of Virginia
• Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments or mobility challenges
• Ability to develop and implement individualized mobility plans tailored to each student’s needs
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with educators, families, and related service providers

Responsibilities:

• Deliver orientation and mobility instruction to enhance students’ functional independence
• Assess individual needs and adapt strategies to support diverse learning environments
• Maintain accurate records and report progress regularly
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support student goals
• Participate in meetings and professional development as required
