Qualifications:
- Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS)
- Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, or related field
- Experience working with students with visual impairments
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop and implement O&M assessments and goals
- Proficient in using technology to aid in mobility training
Location:
- Fremont, CA
Responsibilities:
- Provide 150 minutes per month of direct Orientation and Mobility instruction
- Assess and analyze the student's mobility needs, focusing on safe navigation and independent travel
- Develop and monitor progress on individualized O&M goals
- Collaborate with educational staff and family to ensure comprehensive support
- Utilize appropriate techniques and tools to enhance the student's mobility skills
- Document and report progress in alignment with scheduled evaluations
