This part-time, contract position will focus on fostering safe and independent travel skills within school and community settings, enhancing student confidence and autonomy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized orientation and mobility instruction tailored to each student’s needs
- Collaborate with the special education team to integrate mobility goals into individualized education plans
- Conduct 10 one-hour sessions annually with a 6th-grade student
- Conduct 3 one-hour sessions monthly with an 11th-grade student
- Document progress and communicate effectively with students, families, and educational staff
Qualifications:
- Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS)
- Experience working with school-aged children is preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
- Background clearance and all required licensure up to date
