Orientation and Mobility Specialist opportunity available for the upcoming school year in Scottsdale, AZ. This contract role supports students across K-12 in a dynamic school setting, providing essential services that enhance student access to equitable instruction and learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized orientation and mobility instruction tailored to individual student needs within the K-12 range
- Collaborate with educators, families, and advisory teams to develop effective strategies for student independence and access
- Manage a caseload of 10 to 15 students, implementing mobility training and environmental adaptation techniques
- Participate in team meetings to ensure cohesive support within a supportive department setting
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification or licensure as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
- Demonstrated passion for equitable education and student empowerment
- Experience working with children or young adults with visual impairments or related needs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working within multidisciplinary teams
