A contract opportunity is available for an Occupational Therapist specializing in school-based services within a K-12 environment in Birmingham, AL. This role offers the chance to provide therapeutic support to a group of 11 students throughout the school year, helping them achieve their individual goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering occupational therapy services tailored to student needs, focusing on skill development and functional improvements
  • Managing your own progress tracking system to document student growth and therapy outcomes
  • Collaborating by forwarding updates to the special education case manager to ensure aligned educational goals
  • Participating in IEP or eligibility meetings only in exceptional circumstances
  • Utilizing a dedicated workspace within the school setting

Schedule details:

  • Initial month requires up to 20 hours per week to accommodate makeup therapy sessions
  • Following the first month, the weekly commitment averages approximately 15 hours for the remainder of the school year

Preferred qualifications or experience:

  • Licensed Occupational Therapist with experience providing services in a school-based setting
  • Familiarity with K-12 educational environments and working collaboratively with special education teams
  • Strong organizational skills, particularly in documentation and progress tracking
  • Ability to adapt sessions to diverse student needs effectively
