A school-based occupational therapist is needed to support elementary students in a classroom setting. This role requires expertise in fine motor skills development, visual-motor integration, sensory processing, and self-care skill acquisition to help students fully engage in their educational environment.

Located in Des Plaines, IL, this contract opportunity follows the current school year calendar. The position operates Monday through Friday, from 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., totaling 37.5 hours weekly, with an ASAP start date.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate student participation in classroom activities by addressing fine motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, and self-care challenges.
  • Modify tasks and environments to accommodate individual student needs.
  • Administer diagnostic and evaluation tests and interpret results.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports reflecting assessment findings and observations.
  • Develop and update Individualized Education Program (IEP) objectives and/or accommodations.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and support staff concerning student progress and needs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Illinois as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills complemented by experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Flexibility and problem-solving skills to adapt strategies as required to meet student needs.
