Embark on a rewarding contract-to-hire opportunity supporting students aged 3 to 21 with occupational therapy needs in a vibrant school community near Las Vegas, NM. You'll provide essential OT services across multiple school settings, including elementary, middle, and high school environments, and work closely with a diverse caseload of approximately 41 students. Your role will be pivotal in promoting independence and academic participation for learners of varying abilities.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Occupational Therapist (OT) or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) licensure for school settings
- Experience delivering OT services within educational environments is strongly preferred
- Familiarity with school-based therapy documentation, IEP goals, and collaborative, multidisciplinary care
- Adaptability to work across populations ranging from early childhood to young adults (ages 3-21)
- Commitment to evidence-based, student-centered intervention and support
- Strong organizational and communication skills to navigate multiple sites and scheduling needs
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative OT services to students in elementary, middle, and high school settings
- Travel between schools as needed to ensure consistent support at Los Ninos Elementary, Sierra Vista Elementary, Robertson High School, Memorial Middle School, and Mike Mateo Sena Elementary
- Develop, implement, and document individualized therapy plans and IEPs
- Collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to promote student achievement and independence
- Adjust therapy activities to be developmentally appropriate and functional within classroom routines
- Participate in eligibility, transition, and progress meetings as required
Position Details:
- Approximately 21 hours per week to start, with the possibility of increasing to 28 hours
- Anticipated schedule: Start as early as 8 am (flexibility for when services are scheduled), ending by 3 pm or upon completion of daily services
- Contract begins ASAP through mid-June, with potential to extend over ESY (Extended School Year)
