This contract position offers an opportunity for an Occupational Therapist (OT) or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) with pediatric experience to support a high school setting working with adolescents and young adults aged 14-21. The role involves serving a caseload of seven students and provides part-time hours with a consistent weekday schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver skilled occupational therapy services aligned with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in a school environment.
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to implement interventions that promote functional independence and participation for students.
  • Utilize pediatric experience to tailor therapy approaches effectively.
  • Monitor and document student progress regularly.
  • Coordinate care and communication with parents and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Supervise and collaborate with a COTA as appropriate to the setting and caseload.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid state licensure or certification as an Occupational Therapist or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Experience in pediatric occupational therapy within school or healthcare settings.
  • Ability to use a COTA with pediatric experience to support caseload management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills suited for working with adolescents.
  • Familiarity with school-based therapy protocols and documentation standards.

Position Details:

  • Location: Newark, NJ.
  • Setting: High School-based therapy.
  • Schedule: Part-time, 12 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
  • Caseload: 7 students, ages 14-21.
  • Contract duration: Leave coverage.
