This contract position offers the opportunity to provide one-on-one support for an elementary student enrolled in a life skills program. The role focuses on delivering direct assistance and supervision to a student prone to eloping, requiring both vigilance and the physical ability to redirect as needed. This full-time role runs Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, starting as soon as possible through the end of the school year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized support and supervision to an elementary student within the life skills program.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the student, particularly addressing behaviors such as elopement.
- Collaborate with educators and staff to implement behavior plans and learning activities.
- Maintain consistent communication regarding student progress and any concerns.
- Uphold confidentiality and compliance with school and regulatory policies.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education Technician II or III licensure from the Maine Department of Education, or the ability to obtain this credential.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
- Minimum of one year recent experience working with children both inside and outside classroom settings.
- Experience supporting children with Autism spectrum disorders.
- Physical ability to manage and redirect student behavior safely.
