Located in Carbon County, PA, this contract position offers an opportunity to work in an Enhanced Emotional Support K-12 school environment. The role focuses on providing direct, individualized support to students with emotional and behavioral challenges, helping them effectively respond to daily experiences in a practical and positive way. The assignment runs from ASAP through June 12, 2026, following the school calendar, with work hours ranging between 32.5 and 35 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 and small group support to students with emotional or behavioral difficulties.
- Implement and reinforce behavior intervention plans developed by behavior specialists or special education teams.
- Assist students with emotional regulation, behavior management, conflict resolution, and social skills development.
- Collect and document behavioral data as directed by teachers or behavior teams.
- Support transitions, provide sensory breaks, and apply de-escalation techniques when necessary.
- Maintain a safe, structured environment and follow crisis intervention protocols.
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, counselors, and related service providers.
- Aid students with academic activities and classroom participation.
- Assist with personal care needs as appropriate.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Juvenile Justice, Social Behavior, or related field; Associate’s degree considered with at least 1 year (preferably 3 years) of relevant experience.
- Proven experience in emotional support, therapeutic, or behavior-focused educational settings.
- Strong knowledge of emotional and behavioral disorders including anxiety, oppositional and trauma-related behaviors.
- Skilled in positive behavior reinforcement, de-escalation techniques, and relationship-building.
- Ability to stay calm under high-stress or crisis situations while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and communication.
- Candidates must provide one completed reference check from a supervisor in a related emotional support role.
