Support students’ safe and positive transportation experience as a Bus Aide for the remainder of the 2025/2026 school year. This role involves providing attentive assistance to students during their rides to and from school, ensuring comfort and safety, and supporting the bus driver in monitoring students with special needs.

Location: Huntington Beach, CA, serving K-12 schools
Job Type: Contract, CSY (Career School Year)
Schedule: Approximately 3 hours/day, 15 hours/week total
— Morning shift: ~90 minutes between 6:30 AM – 8:30 AM
— Afternoon shift: ~90 minutes between 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM
Duration: Immediate start through May 29, 2026, with the possibility to continue through Extended School Year (ESY) and the 26/27 school year
Caseload: One-on-one or two-on-one support during bus rides

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accompany students on school buses during morning pickup and afternoon dismissal
  • Ensure student safety and provide supervision while en route
  • Collaborate closely with bus drivers and school staff
  • Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques to manage behavioral challenges calmly and effectively
  • Support students with special needs, adapting to their individual requirements
  • Be familiar with the student’s needs and routines, preferably having prior bus ride experience with the student

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous experience working with special needs children highly preferred
  • Effective verbal de-escalation skills
  • Ability and willingness to provide one-on-one or two-on-one support
  • Paraprofessional background or Certified Nursing Assistant credential is acceptable
  • Dependable with flexible availability to accommodate bus schedules
