Elementary 1:1 Teacher's Aide - Lewiston, Maine

Support an elementary student in a life skills program as a paraprofessional in a contracted role located in Lewiston, ME. This position involves providing one-on-one assistance during the school day, helping a student who may elope, and requiring physical ability to redirect as needed. The role is ideal for candidates with experience working with children with Autism and strong supervision skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide personalized support to an elementary student in a life skills classroom from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday
• Monitor student behavior closely, especially tendencies to elope, and employ physical redirection when necessary
• Collaborate with classroom staff and follow educational plans to support the student’s development and safety
• Maintain a positive, structured, and supportive environment tailored to the student's needs

Qualifications:

• Education Technician II or III Licensure from the Maine Department of Education or ability to obtain licensure
• CPR and First Aid certification
• Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening
• Minimum of one year recent experience working with children, both inside and outside classroom settings
• Experience working with children with Autism is strongly preferred
