Special Education Paraprofessional in Norristown, PA

This position involves supporting a 1st-grade student in an autistic support and complex learner classroom within a K-12 school setting in Norristown, PA. The role focuses on providing specialized direct academic instruction along with assistance during speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and other special education services tailored to meet the student’s unique needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support a 1st-grade student receiving special education services under Autistic Support
• Assist with behaviors of concern including elopement, non-compliance, and aggression during escalated episodes
• Implement team recommendations to minimize behavioral triggers such as transition-related challenges
• Provide in-classroom assistance during specials and lunch to limit transitions
• Collect data on IEP goals and monitor behavior patterns
• Collaborate with educational and therapy staff to support the student’s overall development

Qualifications and Experience:

• Experience working as a paraprofessional in a school setting, preferably with students with complex needs
• Current BT/RBT certification and onboarding with Soliant required
• Familiarity with Autistic Support programs and behavioral interventions
• Ability to manage challenging behaviors in a compassionate and effective manner
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Location and Schedule:

• Position located in Norristown, PA
• School year 2025–2026 contract
• Hours: 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM, aligned with student’s schedule
