Support students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in specialized and inclusive K-12 educational settings within Carbon and Lehigh County, PA. This contract position runs through June 12, 2026, aligned with the school calendar, offering approximately 32.5 to 35 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-on-one and small group support to students with autism, focusing on academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
- Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) under direction from classroom teachers and behavior specialists.
- Collect and document data on student behaviors, IEP progress, and instructional strategies.
- Assist students during daily routines, transitions, and sensory breaks.
- Utilize evidence-based interventions such as ABA, PECS, visual schedules, and social stories.
- Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and special education staff to ensure consistency and effective communication.
- Provide personal care support as needed, including toileting, hygiene, and feeding.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, ABA, Social Behavior, or a related field is preferred.
- Candidates with an Associate’s degree and a minimum of one year (preferably three years) experience working with students with autism or behavioral needs will also be considered.
- Strong knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and behavior intervention techniques.
- Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately during behavioral incidents, including elopement or aggression.
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation and communication.
- Reliable, team-oriented, and able to maintain professional boundaries in challenging situations.
- Completion of one supervisor reference check is required prior to submission.
Locations may include specialized autism programs and elementary schools within Carbon and Lehigh counties.
