A full-time Educational Assistant / Paraprofessional position is available for the 2025-2026 school year, supporting K-12 students with a range of severe disabilities and behavioral challenges. The role primarily serves inclusion classrooms and resource/learning centers at both the elementary and high school levels. Current needs focus on students who demonstrate profound behavioral, functional, and adaptive requirements.
Location: Santa Fe, NM
Duration: August 5, 2025 – May 29, 2026
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week
Caseload Details:
- Support students in elementary, middle, and high school settings
- Work closely with students who have severe disabilities and significant behavioral needs
- Assist in inclusion classrooms and specialized resource centers
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid New Mexico driver’s license required
- Possession of or ability to obtain mandated Educational Assistant license and/or Substitute Teacher license (candidates may start while the licensing process is underway)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience working with children with disabilities and behavioral challenges
- Previous classroom experience preferred
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide classroom and behavioral support to students with profound needs
- Collaborate with teachers to implement individualized learning and behavior plans
- Assist in teaching basic academic skills such as letter recognition and sounds
- Utilize positive behavior supports and de-escalation techniques during instruction
- Engage in ongoing professional development, including trainings like CPI and Braille as needed
