This position is for Emotional Support Interventionists providing specialized support to students in an enhanced emotional support setting within a K-12 school environment, located in Carbon County, PA. The role requires focused, direct interaction with students to help them develop practical responses to daily challenges related to social, emotional, and behavioral needs. The contract is scheduled to start as soon as possible and extend tentatively through June 12, 2026, aligned with the school calendar.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-on-one or small group support to students facing emotional or behavioral challenges.
- Implement and reinforce behavior intervention plans (BIPs) developed by behavior specialists or special education teams.
- Support students in managing emotions, regulating behavior, resolving conflicts, and improving social skills.
- Collect accurate behavioral data and intervention outcomes as directed by teachers or behavioral teams.
- Assist students during transitions, sensory breaks, and when using de-escalation techniques.
- Maintain a structured, supportive environment and follow established crisis intervention protocols.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, counselors, and related services to promote student success.
- Aid students with academic participation and personal care needs, such as toileting and hygiene, if necessary.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Juvenile Justice, Social Behavior, or related field; Associate’s degree considered with at least one year (preferably three years) of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience working in emotional support, therapeutic, or behavior-focused educational settings.
- Strong knowledge of emotional and behavioral disorders including anxiety, oppositional behaviors, and trauma-related challenges.
- Proficiency in de-escalation techniques, positive behavior reinforcement, and relationship building.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress or crisis situations and to maintain appropriate boundaries.
- Basic computer skills essential for data entry and communication.
- Must provide one completed emotional support role supervisor reference check with application.
Location: Carbon County, PA (Carbon Learning and Achievement School – Enhanced Emotional Support)
This is a contract position with hours ranging from 32.5 to 35 per week.
