1:1 Elementary Paraeducator in Wiscasset, ME

This contract position offers a rewarding opportunity to provide dedicated 1:1 support to an elementary student enrolled in a life skills program. The role requires a compassionate professional capable of managing a student prone to eloping, with a focus on general supervision and the physical ability to safely redirect as needed. Scheduled for 37.5 hours per week from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, the assignment will begin as soon as possible and continue through the end of the school year.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing individualized instructional and behavioral support to a student in an elementary life skills program
• Implementing strategies to ensure student safety, including supervision to prevent eloping and physical redirection
• Collaborating with teachers and staff to support the student’s learning and development
• Maintaining a supportive and structured classroom environment tailored to the student’s needs

Qualifications:

• Education Technician II or III licensure, or ability to obtain licensure from the Maine Department of Education
• CPR and First Aid certification
• Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening
• At least one year of recent experience working with children, both inside and outside classroom settings
• Experience working with children with Autism is strongly preferred
