A contract opportunity is available for a dedicated paraprofessional to provide one-on-one support to an elementary student enrolled in a life skills program. This role requires a compassionate and attentive individual who can manage a student prone to eloping, ensuring their safety through general supervision and physical redirection when necessary.
Position Details:
- Location: Wiscasset, ME
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week
- Duration: Immediate start through the end of the current school year
- Employment Type: Contract, W2
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personalized support to an elementary student in a life skills program.
- Maintain a safe environment by supervising and redirecting the student as needed.
- Collaborate with educators and staff to implement individualized educational plans.
- Monitor progress and communicate effectively regarding student needs and behavior.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education Technician II or III licensure from the Maine Department of Education, or eligibility to obtain licensure.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Minimum of one year recent experience working with children in both classroom and community settings.
- Experience supporting children with Autism is strongly preferred.
