A school nursing role is available to support students with specialized medical needs across various educational settings, including elementary, middle school, and transition programs. This contract position runs for the current school year, with typical hours from 7:45 AM to 3:15 PM. The nurse will provide direct medical care and supervision to students needing assistance with seizures, g-tube feedings, tracheostomy care, and diabetic management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring and managing seizures.
- Administering g-tube feedings and medications.
- Riding the bus with students to provide medical support.
- Supporting multiple classrooms when students are not in attendance.
- Collaborating with school staff to ensure student safety and health across programs.
- Utilizing skills in tracheostomy and diabetic care, particularly within the Structured Learning Environment and Transition Programs.
Desired skills and qualifications:
- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with current licensure.
- Preferred experience in school nursing and specialized medical procedures related to seizures, g-tubes, tracheostomies, and diabetes.
- Ability to work across various school programs and environments.
- Possession of a Professional Educator License (PEL) is required.
Locations of service:
- Elementary students (Kindergarten to 1st grade) in supportive medical needs programs.
- Middle school students in structured learning environments.
- Transition programs serving 18-22-year-olds, supporting visually impaired and medically complex students.
