A full-semester, in-person school psychologist position is available to support a K-12 public school community in Elgin, IL. This contract role, starting ASAP through April 2026, involves working primarily with middle school and preschool students, providing critical psychological services in a supportive educational environment. The position averages 35 hours per week and focuses on assisting with long-term leave coverage.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting initial and reevaluations of students with disabilities at early learning and middle school levels
- Managing 504 plans at the middle school, including evaluations and facilitating 504 review meetings
- Assisting in the development of functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans
- Collaborating with social work colleagues to address academic and behavioral challenges through the problem-solving process
- Participating actively in the Multi-Tier System of Support (MTSS) to promote student success
Qualifications and desired credentials:
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Psychologist Endorsement required
- Experience working with preschool and middle school age groups preferred
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, 504 plan management, and behavioral assessment techniques
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with educators, families, and support staff
