A school district in Sterling Heights, MI, seeks a dedicated School Psychologist to support an elementary school for a full semester contract. This position addresses an immediate vacancy following a recent resignation, with the candidate expected to start promptly to ensure continuity of psychological services for young learners.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with elementary students and possibly early childhood (EC) populations. Given the developmental needs of this age group, in-person service delivery is preferred; however, virtual sessions may be utilized as a last resort. Flexibility regarding full-time or part-time status is possible, but this is contingent on the ability to provide in-person services.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification or licensure as a School Psychologist
- Experience working with elementary and early childhood students
- Strong assessment, intervention, and consultation skills
- Ability to provide both individual and group support tailored to young children’s needs
- Effective communication with educators, parents, and multidisciplinary teams
- Comfortable with both in-person and limited virtual service delivery when necessary
Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychological evaluations and assessments for elementary-aged students
- Develop and implement intervention plans to support students’ academic, social, and emotional development
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and staff to create a supportive learning environment
- Participate in school meetings, including IEP and staff meetings, as required
- Provide crisis intervention and counseling services as needed
