A Sign Language Interpreter is sought for an engaging role supporting early childhood students in a collaborative educational environment. This position runs through the summer session and into the 2025/2026 school year, based in Deville, LA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide interpretation and translation services for two early elementary students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to facilitate effective communication and enhance students’ learning experiences.
  • Adapt interpretation techniques to meet the varying needs of students and participate actively in classroom activities.
  • Document and track student progress in alignment with educational goals.
  • Attend team meetings and participate in professional development opportunities as required.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (preferably with experience in educational settings).
  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and able to customize interpretation for young learners.
  • Previous experience working with children, particularly in an elementary or early childhood setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with educators, students, and parents.
  • Willingness to work onsite and commit to the specified schedule.
