This contract opportunity calls for a dedicated professional to provide both Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) and Hearing Itinerant (HI) services during the Extended School Year (ESY) and the regular academic calendar.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and ability to interpret effectively in a school setting
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, particularly in educational environments
- Familiarity with providing both direct support and consultative services for students with hearing impairments
- Flexibility to adapt interpreting style to meet individual student needs across grade levels
- Professional certification or credentials supporting SLI roles preferred
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver dedicated interpreter services for the regular school year: 330 minutes per day, ensuring consistent communication access for students
- Provide direct hearing itinerant support (100 minutes/week), as well as monthly consultation (180 minutes/month) to foster student success and collaborative planning with staff
- During ESY (June 15, 2026 – July 24, 2026; Monday–Friday), provide interpreter services totaling 1100 minutes each week
- Offer direct hearing itinerant services in the summer (100 minutes/week) and participate in consult sessions (75 minutes/month)
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that empowers students with hearing differences to thrive academically and socially
