A Sign Language Interpreter is needed for a leave coverage contract role supporting a 3rd-grade student in an elementary school setting in Douglasville, GA, with consideration for candidates in surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 sign language interpretation for a 3rd-grade student who divides time between the Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) and the general education classroom.
  • Facilitate effective communication and accessibility for the student during instructional and social activities.
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure seamless integration and support throughout the school day.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient and certified Sign Language Interpreter with experience working 1:1 with school-age children.
  • Familiarity with elementary school environments and educational settings preferred.
  • Ability to interpret effectively in diverse classroom settings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and the student.

Location & Schedule:

  • Position is based in Douglasville, GA; applicants from nearby areas are encouraged to apply.
  • Contract duration: July 1st through August 13th (leave coverage).
  • Work hours: 7:45 AM to 1:45 PM, approximately 30 hours per week.
