Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Evanston, Illinois

Key Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter within an educational environment
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Relevant certification or licensure as required by state guidelines

Responsibilities:

• Provide daily sign language interpreting services to students during both regular and extended school year terms
• Facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students, peers, and staff
• Deliver direct Hearing Itinerant Services weekly, ensuring comprehensive support for student needs
• Offer monthly consultative services to educators for seamless integration of strategies and accommodations
• Maintain accurate logs of interpreting and itinerant services
• Participate in team meetings, student planning sessions, and professional development as needed

Position Details:

• Regular School Year: 330 minutes of interpreter services per day (full day), with 100 minutes per week direct and 180 minutes per month consult Hearing Itinerant Services
• ESY (June 15, 2026 – July 24, 2026, Monday–Friday): 1,100 minutes per week of interpreter services (full day), plus 100 minutes direct and 75 minutes consult Hearing Itinerant Services weekly.
