This full-time Sign Language Interpreter opportunity is based at a middle school located approximately 40 minutes north of Seattle, in the Everett, WA area. The assignment involves providing 1:1 support to a middle school student, facilitating effective communication in an educational setting. This contract position spans the current school year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear and effective sign language interpretation to a middle school student during classroom instruction and school activities.
- Support educational access by facilitating communication between the student, teachers, and peers.
- Adapt communication strategies to meet the individual needs of the student.
- Collaborate with school staff to ensure a supportive learning environment.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, particularly in educational settings.
- Ability to work directly with middle school-aged students in one-on-one environments.
- Competency to provide support if academic records do not meet a 4.0 GPA, with potential classification as a paraprofessional.
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture and educational requirements.
