A school district in the Fremont and Redwood City, CA areas is seeking a qualified Sign Language Interpreter to provide dedicated support for a high school student. This contract position offers an opportunity to work closely with one student in a 1:1 setting, supporting their communication needs through expert interpretation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing in-person sign language interpretation for a high school student during the school day (35 hours per week)
  • Facilitating effective communication between the student, teachers, and peers
  • Ensuring clear and accurate interpretation that supports the student’s academic and social engagement
  • Complying with all educational and confidentiality standards
  • Collaborating with educational staff and families as needed

Qualifications:

  • Minimum EIPA score of 4.0, demonstrating advanced interpreting skills
  • Proven experience interpreting in educational environments, preferably within high school settings
  • Ability to work onsite with a high school student, maintaining focus and professionalism
  • Availability to begin immediately and commit through June 6, 2026
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

The position operates under a contract school year schedule. The role provides an important service that enhances the student’s access to education and social interaction.
