ASL Interpreter | Gulfport, Mississippi

Sign Language Interpreters are needed for the 25/26 school year to support elementary students in a school located in Gulfport, MS. This contract position offers a unique opportunity to work one-on-one with general education students in grades 2, 4, and 5, providing crucial communication support during the school day.

Responsibilities:

• Provide effective sign language interpretation for general education students on a one-on-one basis
• Facilitate communication between deaf or hard of hearing students and teachers, staff, and classmates
• Support students’ access to classroom instruction and social interactions through accurate and clear interpretation
• Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure an inclusive learning environment

Qualifications:

• Certification required: RID, EIPA score of 3.0 or higher, or MS QA license
• Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred
• Strong knowledge of sign language and interpretation techniques
• Ability to work in-person for approximately 35 hours per week during the school year

• Gulfport, MS, within Harrison County School District
