ASL Interpreter | Lawrence, Michigan

An immediate full-time opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support K-12 students in a dynamic school environment. This contract role spans the current school year with a start date as soon as possible and continues through June 5th, 2026. The position involves working approximately 35 hours per week, providing essential communication support tailored to students’ diverse needs and ages.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate effective communication between Deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and school staff
• Interpret spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events
• Collaborate with educators, counselors, and support personnel to ensure full access to curriculum and school activities
• Adapt interpretation strategies to suit a wide range of student age groups and learning environments
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism aligned with educational best practices

Desired Qualifications:

• Proficiency and certification in American Sign Language interpretation preferred
• Prior experience working within K-12 educational settings is highly valued
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to adapt to various age groups
