An educational opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support a middle school student with intellectual disabilities through a remote, 1:1 teletherapy role. This contract position spans the 2025-2026 school year, providing a structured work schedule and a meaningful contribution to student communication and learning.

Location: Remote (serving a middle school student based in Lenexa, KS)

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality sign language interpretation services tailored to the unique communication needs of a middle school student with intellectual disabilities
• Facilitate effective communication between the student, educators, and other support staff during virtual classroom sessions
• Maintain accurate records of services and collaborate with educational professionals to support student success
• Adapt to teletherapy format while ensuring engagement and comprehension

Qualifications:

• Minimum Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or above
• Must be registered with the Kansas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (KCDHH) or be willing to apply for registration promptly
• Previous experience interpreting in educational settings, especially with special needs students, is strongly preferred
• Reliable home workspace with appropriate technology to support remote interpretation

Work Schedule and Contract Details:

• Full-time hours: 8 hours per day with a lunch break; paid for 7.5 hours daily and 37.5 hours weekly
• Contract position for the duration of the 2025-2026 school year
• Engagement as a 1099 independent contractor through teletherapy
