A K-12 educational setting in New Orleans, LA is seeking skilled Sign Language Interpreters to support students from diverse age groups in a full-time capacity. This contract role will run from ASAP through May 22, 2026, aligning with the school calendar. Interpreters will work 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break each day.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clear and accurate American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation to students, teachers, and staff within the K-12 setting
  • Facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers and educators
  • Collaborate with teachers and educational teams to support inclusive classroom environments
  • Maintain professional standards and confidentiality in accordance with school policies
  • Adapt interpretation styles to suit various age groups and educational levels as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Active Louisiana DOE Certification in Sign Language Interpreting required
  • Proven experience in K-12 educational settings preferred
  • Strong command of American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting techniques
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
