ASL Interpreter | Niles, Michigan

A full-time Sign Language Interpreter position is available to support K-12 students within a dynamic school setting. This contract role offers a consistent schedule of 35 hours per week, beginning immediately and continuing through June 5th, 2026. The opportunity allows flexibility in working with various age groups, enabling alignment with personal preferences and expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation services in educational settings
• Facilitate communication between deaf and hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff
• Support inclusion efforts by ensuring access to classroom instruction and school events
• Collaborate with educators and support personnel to promote student success
• Adapt communication strategies based on student age and needs

Qualifications and Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting skills
• Experience interpreting in educational environments, preferably within K-12 settings
• Ability to work with diverse age groups and modify interpretation styles accordingly
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships
