Educational Interpreter - Olympia, WA

A temporary Sign Language Interpreter position is available for the current school year in a high school setting located in Olympia, WA. This role is ideal for professionals skilled in American Sign Language (ASL) who are passionate about facilitating communication and ensuring accessibility for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students.

Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, school events, and meetings.
• Facilitate communication between students, educators, and staff to support an inclusive learning environment.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to adapt interpretation services according to student needs.
• Maintain confidentiality and observe ethical standards related to interpreting in educational settings.
• Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities as required.

Qualifications:

• Proficient in American Sign Language with proven interpreting experience in educational environments.
• Strong understanding of Deaf culture and communication strategies.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments efficiently.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Previous experience in a high school setting is preferred.
