An opportunity is available for experienced Sign Language Interpreters or ASL Paraprofessionals to support students in a K-12 public school setting. This full-time contracted position involves working closely with hard of hearing and deaf students, facilitating communication between them, their hearing peers, teachers, and other staff members.

Location: Oroville, CA
Duration: Contract through 5/28/2026
Hours: Approximately 30 hours per week (6 hours per day)
Onsite work only

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpreting services to ensure clear communication in classroom and school environments
  • Assist students across academic subjects including reading, writing, and math
  • Support students with vocational and daily living skill development
  • Monitor students during classroom activities, outdoor events, and community outings
  • Collaborate with teachers and other school personnel to enhance educational outcomes
  • Manage and respond to challenging behaviors effectively and sensitively

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certification from the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or achieved a minimum score of 4.0 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA), ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessment
  • Candidates scoring below 4.0 on the EIPA may be considered as ASL Paraprofessionals
  • Proven experience working with deaf or hard of hearing students in educational settings
  • Strong understanding of classroom dynamics and ability to support diverse learning needs
  • Experience managing behavioral challenges in school-age children is highly valued
