Educational Sign Language Interpreter – Remote Position

A certified Educational Sign Language Interpreter is needed to provide dedicated 1:1 interpreting services for a middle school student with intellectual disabilities during the 2025–2026 school year. This teletherapy role offers a structured, contract-based opportunity to support student communication and inclusion from a remote setting.

Location: Remote (working with a middle school student based in Paola, KS)

Position Type: Contract, 1099 Teletherapy
Duration: 2025–2026 school year
Hours: 8 hours daily with a lunch break; paid for 7.5 hours per day, totaling 37.5 hours weekly

Responsibilities:

• Deliver effective, accurate 1:1 sign language interpreting services tailored to the educational and communication needs of a middle school student
• Adapt interpreting methods to support a student with intellectual disabilities in a virtual teletherapy format
• Collaborate with educators and support staff to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes
• Maintain confidentiality and follow all relevant codes of ethics and professional standards

Qualifications:

• Minimum EIPA score of 3.5 or higher
• Must be registered with the Kansas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (KCDHH) or willing to apply promptly
• Proven experience interpreting in educational settings, particularly with students who have additional disabilities
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment
