A dedicated professional fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) is needed to support an early elementary student in a 1:1 capacity within an elementary school setting. This full-time contract position offers an opportunity to provide essential communication access and facilitate a supportive learning environment for a young learner.
Location:
- Indianapolis, IN
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct ASL interpreting services for a student in an early elementary classroom.
- Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, and peers to support academic and social development.
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure effective communication strategies are implemented.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards of conduct.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to individualized educational plans as needed.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and experience as a Sign Language Interpreter.
- Background working with children, preferably in an elementary school setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work full-time (7 hours per day) throughout the duration of the school year contract.
