Sign Language Interpreter in Roanoke, VA

Seeking two skilled Sign Language Interpreters to support K-12 students in Roanoke, VA for the 2025/26 school year. This full-time, contract position offers a competitive weekly pay rate along with comprehensive benefits. The role will be based within a school environment, providing vital communication access throughout the academic year.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a 4.0 EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score or RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) certification required
• Experience working in K-12 educational settings preferred
• Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting best practices
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, and school staff

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate effective communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and administrators
• Interpret classroom instruction, conversations, and school events accurately and professionally
• Support language development and inclusion within diverse educational environments
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards
