A school district in Sahuarita, AZ is seeking a skilled sign language interpreter to support a 5th-grade student at the elementary level. This long-term contract position begins after the winter break and offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a student’s educational experience by facilitating effective communication in the classroom.

Responsibilities:

• Provide clear and accurate sign language interpretation services for a 5th-grade student during daily classes and school-related activities
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure the student’s full participation and comprehension of lessons
• Support communication between the student, educators, and peers to foster an inclusive learning environment
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and ethics in interpreting

Qualifications:

• Proficient in American Sign Language with demonstrated interpreting skills in educational settings
• Experience working with school-age children, preferably in elementary classrooms
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and families
• Ability to commit to a continuous school year (CSY) contract and provide consistent support
