An opportunity is available for a skilled professional dedicated to fostering inclusive communication in a K-12 educational environment. This role is based in Big Lake, MN, for the duration of the school year under a contract position.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., NIC, RID).
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and its cultural nuances.
- Previous experience interpreting in educational settings, particularly with K-12 students.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Knowledge of special education processes and terminology is a plus.
- Flexibility to adapt to varying classroom environments and needs.
Location: Big Lake, MN
Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation services for deaf or hard-of-hearing students, facilitating access to the curriculum.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure effective communication and support for students.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities as required.
- Maintain accurate records of interpretation services provided and monitor student progress.
- Employ a variety of interpreting techniques suitable for different classroom settings and age groups.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards regarding interpretation in educational settings.
