A Middle School Sign Language Interpreter position is available to provide one-on-one support for a Deaf or Hard of Hearing student in a Seattle-area school setting. This contract role offers a valuable opportunity to assist a student’s communication and learning experience while working in a collaborative educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct sign language interpretation to a middle school student during classes and school activities
  • Facilitate effective communication between the student, teachers, staff, and peers
  • Adapt interpretation methods to meet the student's individual needs
  • Collaborate with educational teams to support the student’s academic success
  • Document and report on interpreting services as required

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings, preferably with middle school students
  • Ability to work one-on-one with a student requiring specialized communication support
  • Open to candidates with a lower EIPA score; candidates may be considered paraeducators based on qualifications
  • Strong understanding of Deaf culture and best practices in educational interpreting

Location & Schedule:

  • Position located in Seattle, WA, at an elementary school setting
  • Contract role for the current school year (CSY)
