ASL Interpreter | Summerville, South Carolina

We are seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support K-12 students in a dynamic school environment located in Summerville, SC. This contract position will span the full school year, providing vital communication assistance to ensure accessibility and inclusive learning experiences for students with hearing impairments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction and school-related activities
• Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and staff
• Adapt interpreting methods to match students’ individual needs and educational goals
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of interpreting
• Collaborate with educators and support personnel to enhance student participation

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language with verified certification or equivalent experience
• Prior experience interpreting in educational settings preferred
• Strong understanding of K-12 curriculum and classroom dynamics
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple assignments in a structured school environment
