A remote opportunity is available for an Educational Sign Language Interpreter to support a middle school student with intellectual disabilities during the 2025-2026 school year. This part-time, contract position involves providing telehealth interpreting services in a 1:1 setting, ensuring effective communication and accessibility for the student.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering high-quality sign language interpretation via teletherapy to a middle school student
- Collaborating with educational staff to facilitate communication and support learning needs
- Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional interpreting standards
Qualifications:
- Minimum EIPA score of 3.5 or above is required
- Registration with the Kansas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (KCDHH) is mandatory or candidate must obtain registration
- Registration requires one of the following:
- EIPA score of 4.0+ or ESSE certification
- National certification such as RID, advanced BEI
- KQAS Level 4 or higher
- Certified Deaf Interpreter
- Qualified Video Remote Interpreter (VRI)
Work Details:
- Contract duration: Entire 2025-2026 school year
- Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week
- Setting: Remote telehealth interpretation
- Caseload: One middle school student with intellectual disabilities requiring 1:1 support
This position operates under a 1099 contracting arrangement, providing flexibility for professionals experienced in educational sign language interpreting.
