Job Type Contract

A full-time, contract Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) position is available for the 2025-2026 school year, beginning in November. This role is based in Bridgeport, CT, at an elementary school, with a commitment of 37.5 hours per week.

The successful candidate will hold an SLP-CCC (Certificate of Clinical Competence) or be a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidate. This position requires intermediate to advanced knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), both low-tech and high-tech, including the ability to develop visual supports and program communication devices. The SLP will provide services primarily to students with limited language abilities, many of whom are placed in self-contained classrooms.

Key responsibilities include delivering specialized speech-language services two days per week while collaborating closely with the district’s AAC/Assistive Technology (AT) coordinator—an experienced SLP with expertise in AAC—for the remaining three days. This partnership is essential for supporting AAC programming and integrating technology effectively into student learning plans. The role also involves working collaboratively with teachers, staff, and parents to maximize student communication outcomes.

This position is not open to tele-therapists or Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs) at this time.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • SLP-CCC or CFY status required
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of low and high-tech AAC systems
  • Ability to create visual supports and program communication devices
  • Experience working with students in self-contained settings with limited language abilities
  • Strong collaboration skills with educators, staff, and families
  • Willingness to support district AAC/AT initiatives alongside the coordinator

This contract role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on students’ communication skills while working in a supportive and dynamic school environment. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply to contribute their expertise in AAC and school-based speech-language pathology.

Compensation for this position ranges from $40.92 to $60.92. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals. Full details of our healthcare benefits plan can be found here. This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.
