An opportunity has arisen for a skilled candidate to provide essential services in a middle school setting located in the Bronx, NY. This contract position is designed for the upcoming school year, requiring a dedicated professional to support students' communication needs four days a week.

Responsibilities:

  • Assessment & Evaluation:
    • Conduct speech and language screenings and comprehensive evaluations to determine students' eligibility for services under IDEA or Section 504.
    • Interpret evaluation results and prepare detailed reports for parents and school personnel.
  • Therapy & Intervention:
    • Develop and implement individualized therapy plans tailored to each student’s needs.
    • Deliver direct therapy services either individually or in small group settings, ensuring personalized attention.
    • Monitor student progress towards IEP goals and document outcomes systematically.
  • IEP Development & Participation:
    • Actively participate in IEP meetings, contributing to the development of appropriate goals and accommodations.
    • Provide valuable input on service delivery models and placement decisions.
  • Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with teachers, special educators, and other specialists to support overall student development.
    • Consult with staff on integrating speech and language strategies in the classroom.
  • Compliance & Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
    • Manage documentation related to Medicaid billing as required.
  • Prevention & Education:
    • Offer workshops and in-services for staff and families to promote awareness of communication disorders.
    • Support early identification and intervention efforts within the school community.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Current NYS License in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Experience working in a school setting, particularly with middle school-aged students.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to implement and monitor IEPs effectively.
